Oliver Jarvis, trading as Springs & Neaps, of 2 Lergh Karvannek Soth, Nansledan, Newquay, Cornwall, TR8 4ST, is the controller of the personal data described here under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Contact: hello@springsandneaps.co.uk.

What we collect and why

  • Your design: the place you choose, the words you type and the previews we draw for you. These are stored on our server as soon as you create a design, before you buy, so the preview and the printed poster are made from the same tides. We need this to show you the design and to fulfil an order (performance of a contract, and before that our legitimate interest in running the designer).
  • Orders: your name, email address, delivery address, phone number, what you ordered and the design it was made from. Stripe asks for a phone number so the courier can reach you about delivery. We use these to make and deliver your order, to email you about it and to keep the records the law requires (contract and legal obligation).
  • Payment: taken by Stripe on its own checkout page. We receive confirmation of payment and the last four digits of your card, never the full card number.
  • Emails to us: what you send, so we can answer you (legitimate interests).
  • Next year's tides: your order confirmation email includes a link to opt in to a reminder when next year's tides are ready. We only email you about that if you opt in, and you can unsubscribe at any time (consent).
  • Security logs: our server records the IP address and the pages or files requested, to keep the site and shop secure and to spot abuse (legitimate interests). Logs are kept for 30 days.

Who processes it for us

  • Stripe takes your payment and collects your delivery address and phone number at checkout.
  • Resend sends our order and dispatch emails.
  • Cloudflare hosts this website and its DNS, and carries the connection between your browser and our server.
  • Our UK print partner receives your name, delivery address and the print file, to print and post your order. We name them on the delivery page once we have settled on one.
  • Anthropic: we may use its Claude models to check print files before they go to the printer and to help draft replies to support emails. Anything sent that way may include the words on your design or the text of your email, and is kept by Anthropic for up to 30 days.

Some of these process data outside the UK under recognised safeguards, such as the UK's data bridge or the International Data Transfer Agreement. We never sell your data.

How long we keep it

  • Designs and previews that are not ordered are deleted after 30 days.
  • Orders, with the design they were printed from, are kept for six years for tax, and so we can reprint your poster if you ask.
  • Emails for as long as needed to help you, then deleted.
  • Server logs for 30 days.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, for it to be corrected or deleted, for its use to be restricted, or object to how we use it. Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time. Email hello@springsandneaps.co.uk and we will reply within two working days. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

We use no tracking, advertising or analytics cookies. Your basket is kept in your own browser's storage so it survives a page reload; it is not sent to us until you check out. Stripe sets its own strictly necessary cookies on its checkout page to prevent fraud.
